Introductory Workshop

We are delighted to announce that on the 10th of July, the Network Humanitarian Research officially launched with its kick-off workshop at the Centre Marc Bloch in Berlin, bringing together researchers from the Universities in Bochum, Bayreuth and Magdeburg with a group of scholars and practitioners from other institutions.

The workshop marked the beginning of a collaborative effort to strengthen Humanitarian Studies in Germany. Throughout the day, participants introduced their research projects, explored opportunities for collaboration and discussed how the network can contribute to research, policy and public debate.

The meeting concluded with a shared commitment to several next steps for the network, including strengthening research connections, fostering public engagement, developing joint publications and creating sustainable structures for collaboration across institutions.

A big thank you to everyone who contributed their ideas, expertise and enthusiasm. We look forward to continuing these conversations and working together with more people and institutions to advance Humanitarian Studies in Germany!
