Network Humanitarian Research (NHF)
The Network Humanitarian Research (NHF) aims to enhance the quality, visibility, and societal relevance of Humanitarian Studies in Germany, contributing to informed public debate and evidence-based humanitarian policy.
Led by Prof. Joel Glasman (Bayreuth), Prof. Dennis Dijkzeul (Bochum), and PD Dr. Kristina Roepstorff (Magdeburg), the initiative brings together interdisciplinary expertise to advance research on humanitarian crises and responses. A central component is the development of a national and international research network, designed to connect scholars, practitioners, and institutions. In addition, three thematic research projects explore pressing issues such as humanitarian discourses and practices, historical perspectives on crisis response, and questions of inclusion and diversity. The program is funded by the Gerda Henkel Foundation from April 2026 to March 2029.
